What Must I Do To Be Saved?
What does it mean to be saved?
The Bible tells us that every person born into this world inherited a sinful nature. In the eyes of God we are all desperately wicked, and we need Him to save us from our sins so that we can go to Heaven and escape Hell.
“Wherefore, as by one man (Adam) sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:” (Romans 5:12)
“As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:” (Romans 3:10)
Sin requires a payment, and the payment for sin is death:
“For the wages of sin is death…” (Romans 6:23)
”…and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.” (James 1:15)
Those who are not saved will face an eternity in Hell without escape:
“And whosoever was not found written in the book of life (saved) was cast into the lake of fire.” Revelation 20:15
“…the rich man also died, and was buried;
And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments…” Luke 16:22-23
There is nothing you can do to save yourself:
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works lest any man should boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9)
It does not matter how good you are. The fact is that you are helpless. And you cannot save yourself!
The good news of the gospel is that God’s Son (Jesus Christ) died for your sins:
God loved you enough to do everything necessary to pay for your sins so that you can be saved.
“For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.” (Romans 5:6)
“For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:” (1 Peter 3:18)
You must believe in Christ for your salvation:
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
You Must Repent from your sins:
Just believing intellectually that you are a sinner, that God loves you, and that Christ died for you is not enough. You must apply this to yourself personally by repenting and receiving the Lord Jesus Christ as your own Savior. Repentance is a change of mind that causes you to turn from your sins and trust in Christ alone.
“I tell you, nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.” (Luke 13:5)
Be saved before it’s too late:
“…behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” (II Corinthians 6:2)
“Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:” (Isaiah 55:6)
Place your faith in Christ by believing in Him, repent of your sins, and you can be saved.
